But I personally don't think is anything to do with sound.

Sound drivers are the latest from Asus website. Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme9 ATX LGA 1155 I would have played it instead of paying Beamdog if the online mode wasn't busted and framerate poor for modern cards. Funnily enough the OLD Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition 1.69 I have saved on one of hard drives from many years ago is in fact working and not crashing.

The GPU has been updated about 8 months ago, I usually run core nVidia driver from Windows 10 library without the whole nVidia Experience bloatware, all games run fine except for this one. The only change is that it will only freeze with the background music still playing on, in task manager "not responding" and it won't offer me to close the app down. I've tried both admin and xp sp3 on nwmain.exe. Getting OpenAL drivers from their website Testing different campaign modules and races Tried updating nVidia graphics drivers to the latest (it was running stock drivers without GeForce experience initially from Windows Update) Tried disabling sound cards in Device Manager in case it was down to sound card Tried with refresh rate of 60 Hz and 120 Hz Lowering resolution, changing menu scaling Lowering all graphics details, textures and in-between combinations (some low some high), including advanced graphics settings in nwn menus No custom content or modules have been loaded yet.

I use Windows Defender with no Access Control, no other AV software running. I can also fight the initial assassin fine, only when I leave the room it crashes immediately. The Hordes of Underdark cinematics works fine. I can leave prelude room, speak to tutorial dwarf from the shop (next area door opens fine), if I zoom out or change the angle to see the open room nothing happens but when I approach it it crashes (I think an encounter is spawning NPC there). I can crash game immediately from prelude by taking off / changing my default armor. It looks like it's struggling to load models properly. I've just purchased Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition but unfortunately it keeps crashing, it looks that any armor change or encounter trigger can cause that.
